Description

Unionlearn is the learning and skills organisation of the TUC. Unionlearn works to assist unions in the delivery of learning opportunities for their members as well as managing the Union Learning Fund (ULF). Over the past 13 years, more than 40,000 Union Learning Representatives (ULRs) have been trained and over a quarter of a million people are being given training and learning opportunities through their union every year. Unionlearn is also responsible for providing education and training opportunities for workplace reps and professionals via TUC Education.

It is a great pleasure to extend an invitation to you to attend unionlearn's thirteenth annual conference on Thursday 11th July 2019. The event will be held at Congress House in London and the theme will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Union Learning Fund. The conference will also reflect on our achievements, including ULR awards and look ahead to key priorities such as negotiating more high-quality apprenticeships and helping young people make the transition into work or further training. A broad agenda will focus on skills development through learning of individuals and communities, meeting the needs of a modern workforce, and supporting high quality apprenticeships to boost social justice, productivity and the UK skills base.

The conference is of course a chance to celebrate our work over the past year as well as looking forward to the year ahead.

Speakers confirmed so far include:

  • Frances O'Grady, TUC General Secretary
  • Rt Hon Anne Milton MP, Minister of State for Skills and Apprenticeships
  • Hussain Manawer - Internationally recognised poet
  • Kevin Rowan, Director of unionlearn

  • 10:00 - Conference starts; plenary
  • 13:00 - Lunch and networking
  • 13:40 - Workshops
  • 15.30 - Conference closes
